Emmaus House

Everyone deserves to age with dignity and independence. This project was imagined to provide long-term residential care in a setting that will allow the developmentally disabled to live as independently as they are able.

Inspired by the Eden Alternative model of elder care, and imagined for a site adjacent to the sheltered workshop in Versailles, Missouri, each 7,000 square foot home offers eleven private rooms clustered around large common living, cooking, and dining spaces, just as you would find in a regular home. Multiple homes were planned on the site, and configured to create intimate outdoor courtyards with seating for recreation, conversation, and meaningful interactions.
